Recently I was a guest on a podcast and one of the hosts brought up the two schools of appointments: those that burn through leads, setting everything with low show rates and those who set fewer appointments but have higher show rates.

Which is better?

I’ll tell you what matters the most. It’s that your kept appointment rate is at or above 90%.

Why Does the Rate Matter?

I didn’t come up with the 90% number, it was something taught to me long ago when I started and I bet someone could put together some really good data on it.

Here’s what this rate tells me when I’m observing and assessing you:

  1. It tells me how good or bad your relationship is with your sales team.

  2. It tells me the efficacy of your discovery process.
